Wooooops. A large portion — maybe a majority — of apps that let people post things to Tumblr have been shut out of the blogging service. It seems to be the result of a miscommunication, but it’s likely going to be broken for weeks.
Folks, Tumblr recently turned off access to version 1 of their API with no warning, and as a result users cannot log in to Tumblr using Tumbleroo. We are very sorry and and we are working to update the app. This has happened to lots of other apps as well and we hope to fix things quickly.
“Is it possible to add a second blog account to the App?
If so how do you do it?, not been able to find it myself.
Thank you in advance.
Keep up the work, Great app just reviewed it.”
Glad you like the app! To answer your question: Tumblr allows you to create multiple blogs associated with the same Tumblr account. If you have multiple blogs, a list of them is available from the top left menu, which is labeled with the name of the blog you’re currently in. Of course, there is only one dashboard per Tumblr account (that is, per email address username).
Now, if what you want is to be able to switch between separate Tumblr accounts—say, between two friends sharing an iPad—then it’s very simple. Choose the “log out” button, then enter the information for the account you’d like to use. When you want to switch back, just log out and log back in. Hope that helps!
“The tumbleroo app doesn't work at all on my iPad anymore!!! It doesn't even start up. I think you need to start handing out refunds.”
We’re so sorry about the bug! It affects folks upgrading from an old version (not those buying the app new. We’ve submitted a fix to the app store and it should be out soon. In the meantime, there is a very simple solution to the problem that gets Tumbleroo working again. We posted about it last week and you can read the instructions here. Again, sorry for the inconvenience!
Tumbleroo has been updated! Version 1.0.2 of Tumbleroo is now available for download. New features include:
Now supports accounts with emails that have a “+” sign in them
Now supports reblogging to user’s other tumblelogs, including private tumblelogs
Mark which blogs are private with padlock icon to make clear that the API doesn’t support them
Added arrows UI to allow editing of very long posts
Minor bug fixes
IMPORTANT NOTE: We’ve received reports that for some users the app crashes after installing the update. This is caused by a database error that we have identified. We’ve corrected the bug and have submitted a 1.0.3 update to Apple that will solve the problem. In the meantime, there is a very easy solution. Delete the app from your iPad by tap-and-holding the icon and then tapping the “X” button when it appears. Next, go to the App Store and reinstall the app.
Here’s the tricky part: you do this by going to the app page and tapping the icons to buy the app, but you will not be buying it again. Continue to the process and you will see that you will be presented with a dialog that tells you that this will be a free download.
Reinstalling the app in this way solves the problem. We’re terribly sorry about the inconvenience to those of you who are encountering the problem! We’ll do everything we can to make sure Apple gets our 1.0.3 update out as soon as possible. Please let us know if you have any questions!
Tumbleroo was on iPad Today with Leo Laporte and Sarah Lane! You can catch the whole episode and subscribe to the show here. Thanks so much to the TWiT team for having us on!
“Hi! its liz. Yes! I do use your app! I love it! I actually have one *huge* request though! I'd love to be able to reblog posts but save them in the queue. So I don't have to reblog like 10 posts in a row and spam people... I'd really really really love to be able to reblog to the queue!
Thank you for the wonderful app! :D”
It’s great to hear you love the app, Liz!
Reblogging to queue is actually what we most want to include in the app. It’s the feature that we most want for our own use! Unfortunately, the Tumblr API (on which our app depends) does not give us a way to do that. Hopefully Tumblr will add that to the API and we’ll jump right on adding it to the app. Feel free to drop them a note asking them to add reblogging-to-queue to their API.
Tumbleroo will be on iPad Today with Leo Laporte and Sarah Lane! If you want to watch live, head on over to live.twit.tv at 4:30pm EST. We’ll also post the video tomorrow. Woo!
